There is some really interesting information about the Monarch Butterfly Migration here. (For example, I learned that "not one single butterfly succeeds in a full migration due to their short life span. It generally takes three or four generations of Monarch butterflies to complete a full migration cycle.")

We went a few years without seeing any Monarchs but this summer we finally started seeing them returning to our area. Of course I never had my camera with me when I spotted them though!
Paula, aloha. What fantastic photographs. As it happens, I have long been into butterflies; in fact, the whole caterpillar/butterfly metamorphosis.
