Drink Up! (A Mama Kat Writing Prompt)

This week, random.org handed me Mama Kat prompt number four: Pour me a drink. Share a favorite drink recipe! As much as I enjoy the thrill of meeting a writing prompt challenge, this one left me wanting a drink, not wanting to write about making one. (For fantastic cocktail recipes, I recommend Tomatoes on the Vine.) I tried random.org again and got Write a post in just eight lines. This I can do, and I am merging the drink prompt into the eight line prompt. Here goes.

Spirited Drinking

For me, favorite drinks are inextricably linked to times, people, and places.

The vanilla milkshakes I craved when very pregnant during a hot Florida summer.

The tequila/beer/frozen limeade margaritas that threw me unceremoniously to a bathroom floor.

Glasses of wine enjoyed over pasta dinners with the best of friends.

Piña Coladas (Regular for Mom/Virgin for My Son) while vacationing in Marco Island, Florida.
Convenience store hot chocolate on cold mornings after a 5K or yoga.

Rum and cokes (single rum, tall glass) watching Super Bowls with my husband.
What is in the glass doesn't matter as much as who I am with when it is consumed.

I like that. Its not what you are drinking but whom you are drinking it with.

If only I could remember. ;)

What a great post. I could see and feel each of these moments...and my favorite was the wine with pasta and friends.

I used to live so close to Marco Island years ago that I could literally go there just as quickly as most people go to the grocery store and back. Such a beautiful place!
